TMCC Gets Creative with Advertising

Truckee Meadows Community College seems to have adjusted its target market to include patrons of the infamous file-sharing website The Pirate Bay. The site has been embroiled in various copyright infringement lawsuits and is run by a group of unapologetic Nordic bad asses. The ad space on the site, which is normally dominated by thinly-veiled and cheesy porn ads, had a large space reserved for Reno's second favorite college. I guess in the search for more tuition payments nothing is out of bounds.

210 North, with its self-proclaimed distinctive European style and sophistication and fancy nightclub dress code, seems not to understand that advertising on the free stuff section of Craigslist isn't that classy.

The people browsing free stuff were probably looking for rocks, baby rats or manure, but now these people will get a chance to go to 210 and not have to pay cover. A great way to recruit classy new clubbers.

Whippit Cougar

Apparently hard economic times are forcing middle-aged moms to convert their Starbucks cream dispensers into nangs. Also called whippits, the nitrous oxide propellant used in cream chargers is making a comeback in Reno.

According to a bartender tipster, the story goes like this: A cougar has a giant purse filled with NO2 cartridges as well as a bunch of unpaid bills and is hanging around a club dropping the things everywhere and doing whippits in the bathroom using her Starbucks cream dispenser, all while her kids are at home sleeping.

Wikipedia says that the name nang comes from: "...the ringing sound that a user may hear in their head after inhaling nitrous oxide gas."

The downside is asphyxiation, naaang!

When LMFAO came to Reno they put on their usual demeaning-to-women, sexually-charged show. "Who wants to drink from the penis?"

But being up close, Redfoo seemed pretty unhappy, even when surrounded by young groupies and booze. I think a single tear might even have rolled down his cheek during the performance. See for yourself:
